About
About
The Canadians in Flight stamp issue honours the aircraft, pilots, and designers, that shaped Canadian aviation history, featuring the Avro Arrow, an ultralight, an ace, a bush pilot, and the Queen of the Hurricanes. The series celebrates examples of Canadian ingenuity, technological prowess, and courage in both civilian and military aviation. Designed by Ivan Novotny at Taylor|Sprules Corporation, the issue launched as a booklet of 10, a gummed mini-pane of five, and five Official First Day Covers, each marked with a unique custom cancel.

“A postage stamp may be small, but the story it carries is monumental. You are working at the smallest possible scale while carrying the weight of national history and cultural responsibility, creating designs that appear deceptively simple at first glance, yet unfold with layers of detail and artifacts that continue to reveal themselves the deeper you look. Collaborating with Canada Post was a privilege; their dedication to deep historical research, storytelling, and craft elevated every decision throughout the design and print production process.”
